Hey there, here!
I'm a freshman in college, and I literally started school today. :O
The campus is freaking huge, much larger than where I got my education for the four years prior to today.
I'm currently working on a novella. I'm about 16 pages in, so I've got a long way to go yet.
I usually write short stories or flash fiction, so this is actually quite an ambitious goal I have set for myself.
Um, that's all I have to say at the moment...
Feel free to drop in and say hi...
Or not, I don't know. It's your life...
that's cool! congrats on starting college! i'm a sophomore. do you know what you might major in? it's awesome that you're working on a novella! have you ever heard of national novel writing month (nanowrimo)?
Hello~ I'm currently interested in majoring in creative writing (or something)! How about you? And yeah, I've heard of Nanowrimo. But I've always had school in November, so I haven't really been able to participate. Maybe I could this year though, since I'm only taking two classes at the moment.
A few minutes ago I was so pumped for my novella, but then I ended the scene I was working on and drew a blank...
Hey! How are you doing?
I'm doing pretty well, thanks!
How about you?
i'm a creative writing major too! i love it, i can't imagine studying anything else. i've been doing nanowrimo since 2010, i skipped a few years because high school got too hectic. i also only wrote 11k last year but it was still fun! you should think about trying this year! even if you don't get to 50k, it's still fun and you still write more than you probably otherwise would've. ^_^
Ooooh! That's awesome! Writing buddies! :D Maybe I will try it this year, hopefully I can get myself to stay committed.
So, when did you discover the magic of words? I started writing consistently back in 6th grade. Mainly because I had a reading class in middle school that was pretty much dedicated to it. Even though I wrote mainly for a grade back then, I still enjoyed it.
Also, what's your favorite form of fiction to write? I primarily write short snippets of fiction but I do poetry too, sometimes.
Here's some poems I've written recently:
Spring
With each light imprint
of the tips of her toes
grass blades would sprout
and flowers would follow.
With a skip in her step,
she greeted old man Winter,
as he slowly faded into
the afternoon sun.
Lively and young,
she sang with the birds
and gave a sweet smile
for she was Spring,
and at last
she had sprung.
Woe of Eve
When heaven’s clouds parted, an angel sung
And from the ribs of dust, life had sprung
To live, to love, and accompany man.
Destined to follow, when he offered his hand
To lurk in his shadow, when he left the land
Just born to serve, and be less than.
Though one could tell, by the look in her eyes
That she longed to be more, than just a prize.
But, it’s known, and perhaps it’s true
That a woman’s shout is worth less than
A simple whisper from a man.
Dependence
Let it run, within my blood
Let it settle, in my lungs
Let it rot, my pearly whites
Let it comfort, my stressful nights
Let it soothe, my raging crave
I know you’re worried, but I’ll be brave
So, let me live to light one more
‘Till death comes knocking at my door
i really like your poetry! i don't write a lot of poetry, i usually write prose, like, life fiction, i guess? do you have any favorite poets? i've been so obsessed with emily dickinson recently
Thanks! I'm more of a prose person as well. c: I'm not well versed in the literary world, unfortunately. So, I can't really have any favorites. Hopefully that will change when I take English next semester!
that's okay! do you have any favorite authors in general? do you read young adult at all?
Hey look at you! Writing a novel and doing the school thing, good job. C:
Hahaha, thanks!
You're the first to congratulate me, everyone else thinks I'm crazy. :P
I think it's so cool when people know what they want and take steps towards it ya know. It aint crazy, it's really respectable. <3
Ah I see! Well, thanks!
How's your day so far?
My day is good. Slept in, woke up, fed cats, and now I'm just hanging out and watching some Netflix. Living the life.
How about you pal?
If that ain't living, I don't know what is. ;)
I'm working of my novel off and on. No school today, woot woot!
Hurray for no school!
Whats your novel about? C:
It's pretty much about two college students in a relationship in Miami, Florida.
The main protagonist is Carmen. She's Cuban-American and her father illegally smuggled people into the States, including her and the rest of the family.
The secondary main character is Alex. Early on in the story, Carmen tells him that she's here illegally. He isn't sure how to react at first.
Carmen and Alex then go through a whole bunch of things that may or may not end up ruining their relationship.
That's pretty much the story in a nutshell. c:
Hopefully it sounds somewhat interesting...
